

Lloyd Jacobs

Dr. Jacobs is President Emeritus, The University of Toledo;
Professor Emeritus, Surgery, at The University of Michigan; and a Distinguished
Fellow of The U.S. Council on Competitiveness. He possesses special expertise
and has had significant experience in large institutional change, particularly
in higher education. He was the architect and the executor of the merger of The
University of Toledo and The Medical University of Ohio. Other examples include leading the University
of Toledo faculty practice plan from a for-profit private corporation to a
501C3 wholly owned by the university, and was the architect and executor of
major organizational change in The College of Arts and Sciences. He led
significant and lasting cultural change at both institutions. Among other texts, he is co-author of ‘Strategic
Mergers in Higher Education’ (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019). He
has a special interest in the legitimate use of institutional authority in
major organizational change.
