Christen Engel is an award-winning communications and marketing executive with experience developing and executing sophisticated communications strategies for successful mergers, acquisitions, consolidations and restructurings for clients in higher education, health care, biomedical research and life sciences, nonprofits and corporations.

She has spent her career driving organizational change by leveraging strategic partnerships with regional and national media outlets, employee communications and internal relations, corporate alignment, advocacy, and reputation management.

Her successes include leading communications and marketing strategy for the integration of a standalone health sciences university with a non-profit health system and the merger of a statewide academic medical center with a regional university. Additionally, she successfully shepherded communications and marketing strategies for half a dozen renaming and rebranding efforts resulting from consolidations, mergers and acquisitions.

Christen’s career also includes individualized public relations consultation on issues resulting from mergers and acquisitions, including employee and alumni engagement, change management, community relations, organizational restructuring, government advocacy, and brand strategy.

Named Communicator of the Year for the Education / Non-Profit Sector in 2022 for her work related to large-scale communications campaigns, Christen is past chair of the University System of Georgia Chancellor’s Public Relations Administrative. She is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education avnd the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Institutional Advancement.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration her master’s degree in higher education administration.
