Dr. Jacobs led the merger of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University to form the University of North Georgia, where she serves as founding president. Previously, she served as vice president for student development and professor in counseling and higher education at the University of North Texas, and as interim vice chancellor for student development and dean of students at Western Carolina University and in other leadership positions at Stephen F. Austin State University. She was editor of the “Journal of College Orientation and Transition” and founder and Executive Director of the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students. Among other texts, she edited ‘The College Transfer Student in America: The Forgotten Student’, co-authored ‘Starting From Scratch’, a first year experience textbook, and is co-author of ‘Strategic Mergers in Higher Education’ (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019).
